    The bank has some good point, but nothing outstanding that other banks can't provide., September, 2016

    There were a lot of commercials on TV about Ally Bank. At the time, interest rates on my other checking accounts had been decreasing over time. I think that the interest rate on one of my checking accounts had dropped to .10 percent. Ally Bank was offering .75 percent on their checking account. In absolute terms, this wasn't a lot of money. It was more the principle that made me open an account with them. The account opening process was quite simple. The entire process was completed online without any hassles or need for a follow-up phone call. I've had few issues, but the ones I have had are significant. There have been times their online Bill Pay has not worked well. It's been down when I've wanted to pay bills. I've set up ebilling and sometimes it hasn't worked well. I kept getting locked out of one of my credit card accounts the day after Ally Bank tried to fetch the ebill. I didn't have these problems with my other checking account at another online bank. Their interest rate right now isn't any better than at my other bank. I'm considering closing my accounts with them in the future.

    Ally bank has been great overall., September, 2016

    Ally bank has great interest rates and is convenient to use. Overall I've been very happy with it. In three years I've never had a problem or run into the hidden fees other banks will unexpectedly hit you with. The website is fast and has a clean layout. It makes all the information I want easily accessible, which isn't always true of other banks' websites. Depositing checks online is quick and convenient, and even though I was worried that my images might not be perfect enough, they were accepted each time. I once got an unauthorized charge in my time using Ally, and customer service was quick to respond. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to open a new bank account, and did recommend it to my daughter.

    They have treated me fair, and it's been easy and convenient to work with them., September, 2016

    I found them when I was looking for a way to receive direct deposits online, and their application process was simple and straight-forward. I never have to go to a branch to do business with them, and I never have to worry about fees, ATM or otherwise. They do ATM fee reimbursement per statement, depositing checks through the app, and will even send me physical checks if I request them.

    On the rare occasions that I've over-drafted my account, they have been reasonable in putting small orders through anyway and haven't hassled or annoyed me about doing so.

    There has only been one problem with the experience when I first started using the bank, and that is that they put a security hold on my account for a day or so. I was able to call the customer service line and get it taken care of, but couldn't get a good answer as to why it was locked in the first place. Either way, it was handled and was a minor inconvenience.

    My experience with Ally has been rather stellar., October, 2016

    I began using Ally bank about a year and a half ago. The application process was painless to a surprising extent. It took me five or six minutes to do so.

    I was suggested Ally for their above-average savings yearly interest. It was precisely as I expected.

    Their customer support has went far beyond my expectations. When dealing with banks, I'm generally disappointed in such an aspect. I figured it may even be more difficult given that Ally is purely online. However, my fears were quickly dispelled. I have had several minor issues, namely with adding a joint owner to a checking account, but their customer service resolved my issue and answered my question in an easy to understand manner.

    I was concerned about ATM fees, as ATMs are a must to use since it's Ally. But they re-compensated me for the majority of my fees. I am disappointed Ally only covers up to $10 of ATM fees, though.

    I applied for a relatively small auto loan ($15000), and it too was rather painless.

    My overall experience with Ally Bank has been nothing short of great., October, 2016

    The online application process was simple and fast. My account was ready for use the same day as if I had opened the account at a bank with brick and mortar locations. I've been able to deposit checks using both the mobile app and desktop website. Both my checking and savings accounts with Ally have a better interest rate than the accounts I had with Chase. Since they don't have a daily minimum balance, I haven't been hit with any fees after paying rent or making large purchases. They also reimburse up to 10 dollars a month for atm fees when using machines non-ally machines, so I don't have to worry about finding an atm in their network. Overall I have been satisfied with Ally, not having to worry about minimum balance fees was the biggest reason I switched from Chase to Ally. The only downside I've had banking with Ally is not being able to deposit cash because they don't have brick and mortar locations.

    It has been descent given the perameters of my needs., October, 2016

    It took me quite a while to find a band that actually stands behind what it states and promises. Most of the time they're just selling or advertisement features. They are always open, which is a good thing for an online banking institute. There are problems that arise when they don't actually have a physical location that I can just walk into and get things taken care of face to face. Over the phone problem solving does have its downsides to it. There have been times where taking the time to sit on the phone did make me double think as to why I have this bank, but I always come back to the conclusion that I made the right choice. The type of account I have with them works perfect for me.

    Ally Banking has simplified my entire banking experience., October, 2016

    I've been with Ally Bank for almost a year now. I moved to a new area and I needed a new bank. I did some research, and realized that there's no real reason to use a physical bank in 2016. Ally is backed by all the same federal regulations that physical banks are, but since they're online, they don't have the same associated costs. Opening an ally checking account costs nothing, and it even comes with an interest rate, something that most other checking accounts don't have. Their application process is super simple. It only took me about five minutes to sign up, and I was approved within an hour. Depositing checks is easy as well, just scan your checks with their app, and they show up in your account a day or two later. Customer support is great too. You can call, or even enter a chat session. I had to chat with them one time for a minor issue (which they fixed immediately,) and I could tell they were genuinely happy to help, which is a welcome change.

    Ally has been very good to me !, October, 2016

    I had my doubts about a branchless bank. But I started to realize that since they don't have any branches, and they don't have a lot of overhead , that basically boils down to that they aren't stingy when it comes to fees, overdraft and atm. Yes Ally Bank is done all online, but what isn't these days ? It's been a perfect fit for me. I have an checking account and a savings account. With the savings account the interest rate is 1.00 % which is alot more than the physical banks that have branches will give you. Overall I've been thoroughly satisfied with Ally. Their customer service is great, every time i've ever had to deal with them, they've been super friendly. I would highly recommend Ally to anyone looking for a online bank. The positives far outweigh any negatives. In fact, I can't think of one negative !

    I have had no problems at all and find the service perfect for my needs., November, 2016

    Originally was looking for a online bank to use for auto depositing checks and to be able to use a debit card. Ally offers a very good system with many helpful features . Such as mobile apps for locating non fee atm's in any area you may be in or are traveling to. They also offer to pay 10.00 worth of outside network atm fees per month which comes in very handy also. Their customer service is excellent in my opinion . I have called them twice with questions and have used their online chat and each time I had questions they were very helpful and fast in assisting me. The online mobile app is very easy to use and makes banking online a breeze. I had researched other online banking platforms and found theirs to right at the top of all the lists , with interest checking and , and no minimum balance required it was quiet easy to open an account with them. They offer a check depositing app also that makes depositing any check into your account easy as pie.

    My overall experience has been good., November, 2016

    My bank is online so I enjoy the convenience it offers. I enjoy being able to transfer money in between different accounts. My bank offers direct deposit which is great and I enjoy being able to have online access 24/7 to my account. I can have a checking account and I can also have a savings account. Plus, if I should need to, I can get an auto loan and I believe I can get a home loan. I could refinance a house, and I could get a business loan if need be. I can link my account to pay for services such as Hulu and Netflix. I can set up an automatic savings plan. My bank has lots of great features, I've been with them for several years and I'm satisfied.

    Great place for long term storage., November, 2016

    The rates for the savings account can't be touched. They work really well for places to store money that you won't be touching for a while. In some instances, and with some products, rates increase as the amount of money you put in incerease, so it would behoove you to put more money in. I don't have that much, unfortunately. The only real downside is that it's difficult to get cash in and to move money around between accounts. What I usually end up doing is depositing cash in my brick-and-mortar bank, then transferring it to Ally. This usually takes about a week, so for quick transactions it's extremely difficult. It's also a little bit strange not just being able to go into a branch to do things. However, you get used to it, and their customer support is very knowledgeable.

    Ally Bank has been a very positive experience., November, 2016

    A good friend was already using Ally Bank and recommended them to me. I had been looking for a better savings accounts because my current one was essentially useless for the purpose. I selected Ally because they have strong interest rates and since my previous bank had closed its local branch I was essentially stuck with doing online-only banking anyway. Ally doesn't have any physical branches but they will reimburse any ATM fees you get for using another bank's ATM. Because they don't have the cost associated with physicals banks, they offer much higher interest rates than their competitors. I've been a customer with them for almost 2 years now and I receive more interest from Ally in a single month than I would receive all year at the other bank. The website is very well designed and easy to navigate. They're up-front with their information and it's easy to understand what value you're getting.

    My overall experience with this bank can only be described as perfect., November, 2016

    When I first joined Ally I was in the market for a bank that would replace the Savings Account that Chase has closed several months prior due to a lack of activity. I was also interested in a bank that would allows me easily open multiple accounts so that I could experiment with multiple savings accounts for different things. (Think the money in the envelope savings method but "digitally"). It was between Ally and Capital One. I joined both banks to check them out but ultimately went with Ally because I preferred the usability and pleasing visuals of the user interface for their online banking.

    The application process was painless. I was able to open up several accounts quickly and had several options when it came to how I wanted to making my first deposit. I opened two savings and one money market account. Accessing the money in these accounts has been painless. Whenever I need help I can call the customer service which is available 24/7 with minimal wait times. The interest compounds more often and the interest rates are high so I see pretty reasonable updates monthly.

    I absolutely love their user interface and find it simple and easy to use. Since it is an online bank only I find that the online banking should be modern, clearn and up to date which it is. I have yet to use my Money Market ATM card to withdraw so I haven't seen how the atm reimburses work but even without that I am extremely happy with Ally for what I am using it for.

    Super easy online banking., December, 2016

    I was interested in getting a savings account that way my money can make some money.

    I chose Ally bank because they have no fees and have some of the best rates in the business. At .99 APY, I have no found an online bank that is higher.

    The online service is super easy to use and whenever I've needed customer support, they've been great. All help sessions have been super thorough.

    I have money deposited into my account automatically after my payday each month. Next thing I know, I'm accumulating an emergency fund without even knowing it.

    When it comes to transferring money to my checking account if I have a larger purchase, the online portal makes it a breeze.

    I'm super happy with Ally bank and would recommend it to anyone.

    I have had a terrific overall experience with Ally Bank., December, 2016

    I switched the majority of my banking to Ally Bank on the recommendation of my brother-in-law. I found the interest rates to be attractive - actually 100x more than what I was receiving at another large bank. Initially all ATM fees were reimbursed, but now it is limited to $10 a month. That still works for me as I don't come close to that and they do have a network of available ATMs which don't charge any fee - most easily found at CVS stores, for me. The fact that they don't have any brick and mortar locations and are available only on the internet has been fine. The only time I have ever needed physical bank branch services - large cash withdrawals or cashier's checks, I have used another bank where I have kept an account open for just such purposes. Ally can produce bank checks, but it is slower. Also, the fact that Ally provides personal checks free of charge is a nice perk, although I hardly ever write personal checks. Their other online payment services cover most of what personal checks used to do.

    It's been an excellent and satisfying experience., December, 2016

    The process to open the account online was a simple and straightforward one that left me feeling like I had made the right choice in choosing Ally Bank. The deposit went through without a hitch - I liked that I had the option to use U.S. postal service to send a check to deposit. The bank sent me emails confirming everything, keeping me well informed. My electronic statement is laid out in such a way as to make it easy to understand at a glance. I've had to call customer service twice regarding how to do something and both times they provided me with concise and accurate information. I also like that it appears that Ally has its call center in the U.S. which is so refreshing. All in sll, I would say Ally Bank is the best example of how a large bank should and can operate.

    This bank has been very easy to use and provides a great customer service experience., December, 2016

    Ally Bank has proved to be tremendously easy and accommodating to use. I personally hate standing in lines at banks and feeling like I'm dealing with car salesmen trying to sell me different products, so I opted to go for an online bank and I couldn't be happier. I can do direct deposit from work directly into Ally, which is really helpful and easy. I get my checks sent to me in the mail and I'm able to take photos on my phone to upload any checks I want to deposit into my account. Couldn't be any simpler. They have decent savings rates. I'm willing to take a little cut to avoid having to go in person to the bank to do a lot of my banking. I'm also happy that I can manage my own CDs on their website. Super easy to move my money around and track exactly what I want to do instead of paying a financial adviser to do things I don't understand. Overall, I enjoy the ease of use of Ally, I enjoy the control I have over my money, and the customer service and website/app options are very user friendly.

    So far my experience has been wonderful., December, 2016

    So far my experience has been wonderful. I have no fees for using ATM's, and the customer service is very helpful and always available 24 hours a day. Ally is an online only bank with no branches but I can do all my banking either through their site or on the phone. It seems like every month I get a letter from them expanding my benefits like cash back or reduced fees. I recieve free checks as part of my checking account as well. I only opened my account a few months ago but have had nothing worth complaining about happen since then. The only time I had a minor issues was when I applied for the account I wasn't sure if I had been approved because I had missed an email from them.

    Amazing, December, 2016

    I began to look into online banking as an alternative for my physical bank, whose rates and fees were not to my liking. My original bank, Wells Fargo, did not offer good rates on savings account. The rates were less than one percent. Ally, however had rates higher than one percent and no fees. I also enjoyed how the bank was online rather than a physical bank. That meant that I could do everything that was required online rather than having to go somewhere or correspond with business hours. The rates were much higher for the savings account. They also offered CD's with much better rates than Wells Fargo. It was amazing how much higher the rates were, so of course I switched. Every time I call customer service is friendly and fully capable.

    Very positive; everything is easy to use and navigate., January, 2017

    Because it is an online bank, interest rates for savings and checking are slightly higher than brick and mortar alternatives. Additionally, all ATM fees are refunded at the end of the month. These benefits alone are worth staying with Ally Bank indefinitely; I consider the refunded ATM fees to be a part of the interest rate, which means it easily beats out other banks and credit unions in my area, Moreover, the mobile app is fantastic and easy to use--it is the only way that I deposit checks which is incredibly smooth. I have always been able to reach a customer service representative when necessary and phone wait times have never been much of a problem. I did have one large issue when moving about changing addresses which left me without a functioning account for a short while but eventually everything worked out to my desire with help from Ally. I consider myself a happy and satisfied customer.

    Excellent. Ease of use with everything online is great., January, 2017

    I could not get a bank account anywhere, because i did not have the ID's to get one. Went online and found Ally bank and i had a checking and savings account within 10 minutes. Funded the accounts and have not had any issues with the bank at all. I can easily link other accounts like paypal and my bitcoin wallet and do not have to verify except with a small transfer. Online banking is the best. The customer gets the savings back because there is no brick and mortar to worry and pay bills for. Buildings for banking will soon be a thing that is only seen in history books. Just need to add a few more words to reach my goal of one hundred and thirty for you.

    The quality of service and support from Ally has been fantastic., January, 2017

    I am very happy with using Ally Bank. I signed up for them primarily because of their policy on ATM fees. They allow you to use any ATM in the country without charging any fees. Even if the ATM charges fees, they will reimburse you. A couple times, I needed to contact their customer service for certain issues and they have been entirely professional and helped me resolve my issue very quickly. It is also very easy to open a new account with them that is linked to your original account. I had a checking account with them and I wanted to open a savings account. The application process took less than five minutes and was very simple to complete. I would recommend Ally to anyone who is looking for a bank that is simple to use.

    It has been a good experience overall., June, 2017

    This bank provided me an auto loan when I tried to buy my first vehicle. That meant a lot to me because I was 21 years old, had no credit, and had a part time job, and still gave me a comparable interest rate that was not insanely high. They did not have to give me the loan, they were taking a chance on me and that is something that will stick with me forever. I would definitely recommend this bank to anyone in my community. The only problem I have with this bank is the the same problem I have at any bank. Interest rates. It bothers me that I "lend" the bank my money in my savings account and they pay me 1 percent interest but if I want an unsecured loan from them they will charge me five percent. That is insane to me but not uncommon for my bank. It is not there fault, it is the times we live in.

    I have only good things to say, October, 2017

    I would most definitely recommend this bank to everyone who does not need brick and mortar locations. It is very convenient, actually surprisingly convenient. Everything is a breeze and their support is top notch.

    They also have a great interest rate (1%) on their savings account. This is way better than most other banks and you do not have to worry about fees if the balance is lower than such and such amount or anything like that. Wire transfers are free and they are very lenient with their overdraft policies. The only problem I had with them so far was that it is not possible to deposit cash. You can readily snap a picture of a check and send it but if you want to send hard cash you can not.
