Rude Tellers who do not want customers to come into the bank., December, 2016

Since the bank has become BB&T the tellers frequently change. They rudely call me by nickname, shortened version of my first name. One time I was told I should not stop in and cash my paycheck because there is direct deposit and I should just use that. They don't pay attention to the drive through window. No one greets customers that come in. They appear to care about their local business customers who come in with large sums of money. The tellers almost never offer an envelope, they don't smile. This is for the Lawnside, NJ branch. Other branches act like normal banks - very impersonal, no greeting, go through the procedure of the transaction and say have a nice day. The bank was so much better when it was Susquehanna bank.

A lot of problems, December, 2016

I decided to try this bank because you could apply online, it was near my house and it didn't deny you an account based on credit history. At first I thought the bank was great but then problems started happening. First, it took me over two weeks to get my debit card. Then the nightly processing happens around 2am and instead of adding your deposits then taking off tans actions they process your money spent first so you will overdraft. I have had to pay countless 36 dollar fees and when I call customer service they are no help at all. You can only call customer service 2 times a month and it's 2.50 charge to your account after that. They also charge overdraft on their own maintenence fees. I am frustrated and fed up with these shady practices. I would never recommend them to anyone!

It does the job I need, and is more convenient not to switch banks., December, 2016

The first issue I had with this bank was when it bought out my old bank. The cut off by debit card before sending me a new one. I went into the bank that day and it took 3 bank workers to figure out how to sent me a new card. I figured it would get better and they would straighten themselves out once the got acquainted to the new system. Well it took two more trips to the bank and almost 3 months too receive my debit card. You have too pay them when if you call them by phone more than 3 tomes a month, i forget the fee but I called and yelled at them when they tried to charge me for calling for the sixth time after receiving notice i should have received my debit card and did not. Gladly management fixed those fees for me. I do not like the fact that you get your direct deposit pending the day it goes in, it pends for up to 3 days and they have the money available to you but they choose at their discretion if they will charge you overdrafts for using the money before it is posted. All in all this bank is a bit frustrating but I have too say beside the original transferring too a different bank problems, and the getting paid for more than 3 phone calls a month, all fees are pretty common to every other bank. If I was able I would choose a credit union over a bank ant day.

    stinky, September, 2016

The bank charges money if you call them with a question on the phone. When they had made an error, I had to request that they not charge me for the phone call. They also charge a $3 fee if you transfer your own money from savings to checking more than 3 times a month. The interest rates are pitifully low. They acquired my bank and so I just got the information right before the acquisition giving me little time to change things. I have to stay with the bank for 6 months or I will get a fee for changing banks. My old bank was much better and didn't have all these fees. I have been a loyal customer of the other bank that they acquired and didn't like the fees.

Not the greatest bank, but convenient and helpful., September, 2016

This was the first checking account I ever had, and I primarily chose them because they're convenient and it's what most of my family uses. I got it right out of high school - nearly 10 years ago - and have been with them ever since. In this time, I have only ever had one significant incident with them. I once deposited a large sum of money, but within a few days, there was some error that removed the money from my account. I had already paid several bills with what I had deposited, which resulted in an overdrawn account and several overdraft fees. However, I was able to go to them and get it all sorted out within basically minutes. On the whole, I feel like they're a decent bank and I've been happy to work with them.

Pleasant, quick, and convenient., September, 2016

I've used about 3 different branches of the bank in all, and they've all had high quality service and professional workers in their physical locations. If ever I have a problem, they very swiftly have someone sit down with me and talk to me about the problem and how to fix it. Because they have a variety of ways to access their services, over the counter, drive-thru, ATMs, online, each service is usually empty with very little waiting time and always high quality. Their online portal in particular is easy to navigate and it is very easy to manage my various accounts online. I feel secure with BB&T's constant upgrades to my account security, regardless of what information they ask for or what they use to secure my account. Overall, my experience with BB&T has been nothing but excellent.

This bank is convienient for me., September, 2016

This bank is very convienent, they have many locations along with ATM's in several locations. They provide online banking, so I'm able to manage my account from home or through my phone. I can pay bills online, and set them up for auto pay. One thing I don't like about this bank are the fees. If I use an ATM that is not associated with the bank, I have to pay high fees to both the bank and also the ATM. Another feature I don't like is if you don't keep a certain amount in your account each month, then they charge you a monthly fee. I lost my job a while back and didn't have any income so I had to watch as the bank pulled money out of my account each month to pay the fees. Other than the fees, I'm happy with the amount of locations, and services the bank provides.

It's been decent, with just a few hiccups., October, 2016

the bank service is pretty good. they have some charges they don't tell you about, which is kind of annoying. But they're always quick to resolve any problems that I've had. And I really like the text banking service that they offer. I don't know if other banks offer the same thing or which ones, because I've never banked with anyone else. I don't really plan on switching anytime soon unless something crazy happens. Everyone at the office is always really nice and polite, I've got a checking and a savings account, and I just got my new debit card in the mail a month or two ago. I suppose if the bank service wasn't adequate I would have probably switched before now! I really love this bank and I'd recommend it to other people.

My overall experience with this bank has been very positive and helped a great deal with my finances., October, 2016

I have been with my bank since I was 17 years old. Members of my family use this bank and one even worked at the bank. This bank was the clear choice for me when it came time to open up a checking account. For the most part, my relationship with my bank has been completely positive. There have been a few times when they would not do what I requested which made absolutely no sense, but overall the experience has been very good. My only real issue with the bank is the fees they deduct from my checking account. If I were to transfer to another local bank, I would not be required to pay these fees. I have no thoughts of actually changing banks though because overall the experience has been great.

My experience with BB&T has been fine- not outstanding, but not bad either., October, 2016

I began using BB&T when I was a freshman in college, in 2002. I chose it mainly due to it being the closest bank to my college, and my parents seemed to think it was a good bank as well. Back when I was in college, I remember that the customer service was somewhat lacking- it seemed like the people who worked there were usually a bit rude to college students. It wasn't bad enough to switch banks, though. After finishing college and moving to a different area, I continued using BB&T mainly out of force of habit. The current branch I use is fine. The customer service is better than it was at the one I used to use.The only services of theirs I've really used is checking and savings accounts. There have been a few incidences over the past decade or so where I had a few fraudulent charges pop up on my checking account and had to go in to BBT and get the charges reversed. They were helpful and the problems were taken care of without too much trouble. I use their online banking frequently and haven't had any major issues with it. I probably won't be switching banks anytime soon.

I have been a long time customer and yet I find the rates to be high., October, 2016

I have been with this particular bank since my graduation from high school. I started with a student checking account that had no fee. Throughout the years I have stayed with them because of the convenient location to my house as well as I don't really feel like going through changing banks at the moment. I have purchased two cars and completed the loan through my bank at an okay rate. I also have a credit card with this bank that has quite a high interest rate. I have thought about switching banks but just haven't gotten around to it and am unsure of what bank I would actually choose. I feel like this bank is an okay bank that I am with but feel there are probably better options out there and that I just need to put forth the effort to look into them.

My overall experience with BB&T has been completely exceptional and has made my life stress free compared to the previous bank I used to be with., October, 2016

About 10 years ago, I was with Wachovia Bank and was just completely dissatisfied with their services and all the issues I seem to encounter on a monthly basis. I then made the decision to close my bank account with them and give BB&T a try since I noticed several of their branches were starting to pop up in my area. The first thing I noticed when I logged onto their website was how user friendly it was (easy to navigate and was able to locate the information I needed immediately). What impressed me the most was how hassle free the application process was. I was able to quickly complete the application and did not need to physically be at one of their locations to open up my checking and saving accounts. Needless to say, I have now been with BB&T for 10 years and the few times I have had to reach out to a customer service representative he or she were very professional, polite and handled my inquiry in an efficient manner. The company has always had my best interest in hand and really do practice what they preach which is providing the best service and security for their customers. Lastly, I love the fact that I can use their online banking either on my laptop/desktop or on my phone with their app. Their online banking system provides a secure process to log in and is very easy to use once logged in.

Overall my experience with BB&T has been excellent., November, 2016

BB&T has always been very helpful when I've had issues arise. About a year ago, someone hacked into my account and used my money to buy things online. BB&T recognized the charges as being fraudulent before I even did, and as soon as I called they were on the case. They sent me a new debit card right away, too. I've always had pleasant customer service experiences there too. Some of my friends have had terrible customer service experiences with larger banks like Wells Fargo, so I am grateful that I feel like BB&T actually values my business. I like that it's a smaller bank; I've never really had to wait in enormously long lines to cash a check or anything like that. It's based in my home town, so I kind of feel a connectedness to it in that way as well.

My overall experience has been excellent!, November, 2016

I really love BB&T Bank! I have my main checking and savings accounts with them. Whenever I have any trouble usually it takes one phone call and everything is resolved QUICKLY. Their website is easy to use, and makes my banking experience VERY easy. They have many locations all over the United States (mainly South and Mid-Atlantic), so if I'm traveling and need something I can visit a branch and get things taken care of. Also, their ATM Network is large, so if I need cash quick I don't have to pay so much in those stupid ATM fees banks are charging now. I have even gone so far to use my "personal" banker at my local branch as an Employment Reference, and she had no problem giving me said recommendation on bank letterhead! Your experience may vary, but I would HIGHLY recommend using BB&T Bank for all your banking needs!

BB&T has been a seamless, easy bank to use and I've never experienced any issues., November, 2016

I have a checking account and savings account with BB&T. It is a free account as long as a minimum of $500 is deposited into the account monthly. There are a good number of bank locations whenever I travel and the bank tellers are always gregarious and eager to help me. Whenever I've needed to transfer money into other people's accounts I always fine it is a quick process, although I'm unsure if that's something that they typically even do for customers. The mobile app is sufficient, although it has recently been updated to offer more services (that I don't need) and I find the app layout to be slightly more confusing and aesthetically unpleasing than the older app version. All in all I am happy to bank with BB&T and would be willing to apply for loans and credit cards and other financial products with them in future as I become more financially stable.

Since BB&T Merged with National Penn Bank, my previous bank, customer service has gone downhill., December, 2016

I started banking here when it was called Nittany Bank, a bank started by local businessmen. It changed to National Penn Bank about 5 years ago. It merged with BB&T bank 4 months ago and things have gotten worse. Before the merger, the teller's hours were cut so service was noticeably slower. Since the merger, customer service has not improved and has actually gotten worse. Wait times are much longer than they used to be. Often, people waiting in line will give up and leave. I have had to do this on a few occasions because I was on my lunch hour and couldn't wait any longer. There are more fees and the fees are higher. The employees seem unhappy and stressed. I have heard that they sometimes are not allowed to have a lunch break. They are understaffed almost every day. I am thinking of switching banks even though it is a convenient location for me. It has been disappointing to see the changes. The changes have been worse for the customers and employees.

Overall my experience with this bank has been positive with few negative experiences., December, 2016

The majority of my experience with BB&T has been very positive. I do most of my transactions online so I seldom deal with the bank in person. Luckily they have one of the better online experiences that I have used. Online experience is very important to me and greatly influences my opinion of companies. BB&T's online site is easy to navigate, pleasing to look at, and intuitive. The majority of experiences I have had in branch locations have also been positive. I did have an issue recently that almost made me close all my accounts. I recently began getting charges on one of my accounts because it no long met the requirements to be free of fees. This was done without any prior notice and I only saw it when I accessed the account balance online. I went into a branch but was given no information other then in did meet the requirements; however the account had not changed it's state in over 3 year and had not previously incurred these charges. I got so upset that I was not receiving additional information on why it was suddenly changed that I left with every intention to close the accounts and move them to my other bank. Luckily we went to another branch and the employee took the time to research and figure out what changed in their system that this account was now coming up as not meeting requirements. As a result we just consolidated the account with another one to remain fee free.

    Satisfactory, December, 2016

BB&T has proven to be very accessible and down-to-earth despite being a very large and well-funded institution. Customer service varies from branch to branch, and is often poor at branches other than my home branches, but quite good in those. Remote customer service also suffers from this unpredictability and inconsistency. Fees are reasonable, however there are some ridiculous fees for using certain services, although the fee amounts are small in these cases. Branch locations are numerous and very convenient. One of my two home branches is within walking distance of my residence. BB&T corporate philosophy is surprisingly confrontational with our corrupt government, which reassures me. BB&T also seems to be disciplined, and runs a tight ship, steering clear of controversy and scandal. My debit card can access my checking and my savings account, and is Visa branded, which makes it usable almost everywhere. I can easily and instantly transfer money between my checking and savings accounts. The BB&T web portal and online banking system are well-designed and seem secure. I'm not always happy with how BB&T treats me as a customer, but I feel very confident banking with BB&T, and I believe my money is secure.

BB&T is the first bank that I've come across that I can count on and trust with my money., December, 2016

BB&T has been a wonderful bank to have my checking and savings account with. I have no fees with my direct deposit from work, though without it, the fees are about average with most brick and mortar banks today. From the first day I opened up my checking account at a local branch, my experience has been nothing but awesome! The tellers are friendly and always smiling, eager to help, and the loan officers are willing to assist you during times of busy days. I have never had a bad experience with them, and the only issue I've had is losing my debit card through my own fault. They replaced it, fee free, with a temporary card at my local branch and ordered me a replacement that same day.

This has, by far, been one the best banks in my ten years of dealing with financial institutions. I don't see myself switching to another bank anytime soon, mostly for fear of not being treated like a valued customer like BB&T manages to do. The friendly customer service, the ease of using the mobile banking system, and the, so far, hassle free transactions are why I'm committed to this bank.

BBT provides decent service, low fees, and an overall better than average banking experience., December, 2016

BBT provides a better than average banking experience. Their customer service was excellent during the application process, and every experience since then has been superb, to include email exchanges for asking for a new card when my magnetic strip stopped swiping. Their rates are about average, though they seem to have fewer fees.

My complaints generally relate to their online presence - website and mobile app. The mobile app for depositing checks can be clunky, especially for photographing the back of a check (the camera built into the app doesn't seem to allow for selective focus, thus blurry pictures which can be frustrating after trying 10+ times). As of the last time I checked, their password requirements were pretty pathetic and didn't allow for special characters. They have since added basic security questions but could be improved with two-step. Their interface does not play well with third party services such as Mint or YNAB.

I have really enjoyed banking here because of the convenience and friendly atmosphere., January, 2017

I have really enjoyed banking at BB&T. The tellers are always helpful and friendly. They even helped me to set up a student account for my teenage daughter when she got her first job. They banking center is always clean and welcoming. I often go through the drive thru teller without a deposit slip. One of the tellers will take my debit card along with my deposit and fill out a slip for me. It has been super convenient for me. The location is near my work and easy to access from the main road. My only complaint is that there are no Saturday hours for the drive thru or the branch office. This has been a real inconvenience on occasion. I also wish there were more branches near my home. While the branch I use is convenient to work, it is more the 30 minutes from my home.

My experience has been good., January, 2017

The dealer who sold me my car processed my car loan application, but I have an existing checking account with BB&T. I am pleased with the interest rate that I got on the car loan. BB&T has quite a few branch locations in my community which is convenient when I need to use an ATM. I haven't had any problems on the occasions when I go to a regular branch and the customer service has been friendly and professional. However most of my interactions with this bank are online. I log on to pay my monthly bill and sometimes check on my balance. The interface is easy to navigate and relatively glitch free. I have had to call for help with the interface only once or twice with log in issues and support rep was able to help me out.

I have had a wonderful experience at this bank. BB&T is very responsive to all of my needs and has helped me save money while in college. The bank is all around the world so when I am traveling, I am able to access the bank for cash or other needs at any time. They have given me two free debit cards when mine do not work, without charging me at all. I am always greeted politely at the bank and get the help that I need from whoever is working. The workers are very friendly and are trying to satisfy the client's needs. I have been a member of this bank for almost five years now and have not had any problems at all. I look forward to continue my relationship with this bank.
