The customer service is inconsistent., September, 2016

A few months ago I had some issues with Chase bank in regards to overdraft fees. This was a point in time were I was unemployed for a period of 2 months out of work involuntarily. Chase bank charges a $7.99 monthly service fee for using a variety of services. One month my checking account was significantly low where I had about $10 in my account until I was able to make a deposit.

One night I proceeded to make 2 small purchases within about a 1 hour time period. I made a $6 transaction for gas and then another $3 transaction for a small meal at a fast food restaurant. The next morning I wake up to bank alerts stating that my checking account had been overdrafted twice that previous night. I was unaware that Chase bank had charged their $7.99 service fee and therefore the 2 purchases I made that night had overdrawn my account by about $3. Chase bank proceeded to charge me 2 separate $35 overdraft fees resulting in my account being about -$65. I was furious because of $3 I did not have to cover my purchases Chase charged me $70 to cover the small expense. That day I spoke to customer service about 4 times trying to make them understand my situation that I was unaware of the monthly service fee being charged which consequently made me overdraw my account. Chase bank only reversed 1 of the $35 fees for me and refused to overturn the other fee. To this day I am still very upset that they attempted to charge $70 in order to cover $3. I have always been a loyal customer giving them my money to hold for over 5 years and they have the audacity to try and take more money from a hard working person!

My overall experience throughout the years with Chase bank has been very pleasant., September, 2016

I signed up with Chase bank a little before I graduated high school, because I was unhappy with my former banks customer service, fees etc (TCF-Former bank). I was able to take advantage of a promotion that they had going on at the time, which gave me a bonus of $500. In order to get my bonus, I had to make an opening deposit of at least $50 and I signed up for direct deposit with my work paycheck. They paid me my bonus on within the time frame that they stated with no issues. Throughout the years, I have had a very positive experience with Chase. The customer service workers have always been very helpful and dedicated to helping their customers. Ive had a couple overdraft fees they waived for me when I called in about them. I also have had a couple cashiers check fees waived when I went into the bank to purchase cashier checks. I feel really comfortable with Chase bank and am confident my information is secured. Because I have had many positive experiences with Chase, I have added more products to my account such as opening an savings account for my "emergency savings." Three years ago when I bought my first home with my fiancee at the time, we decided to take out our home loan with Chase since they offered good interest rates, and I have had no problems banking with them in the past. I will remain a Chase customer unless anything dramatic changes with them for the worse.

    Too many fees., October, 2016

I opened my first account when I was still in high school and shared the account with my mom. It came with a free savings account. There weren't any fees that came with it at the start. This was when the branch was still Washington Mutual. Once it became a Chase bank, there was a $1500 minimum balance for your checking account or there would be a penalty. My credit card also got upgraded to a Chase Freedom card but the credit limit has not increased by much over the years at all. At the time I was still a full time student and the minimum was not feasible for me. So I decided to switch my bank to an online banking institution which was Capital One 360. I have never looked back since. No fees, no hassle, no monthly paper statements. I could use more ATMS that accept cash deposits though.

They leave me alone and don't call me or send me junk mail but the staff is always very helpful when I go to the branch, October, 2016

I find them to be very helpful and eager to please when I call to the branch. They process most of my requests on the spot and so far I have never walked out without having my problem or request solved. The staff has gone out of the way to help. I am also grateful that they don't send me junk mail like offers and product suggestions. The biggest downfall is that when I have to call them on the telephone or when I applied on the website for credit cards I find them to be much less helpful than in person. In those instances, I feel very much like I am just a tiny fish and they dismiss me by sending form rejection letters or promising to call back. They lack a personal touch and I feel like I'm just a number. So when I can I try to do all my business in my local branch.

I haven't had a problem with this bank, everything has been peachy so far., December, 2016

I don't have any issues with this bank. They're very good with my money and I trust them. They have a convenient location around where I live and it's easy to get to when I need to. The best thing that has happened was I was a day late on my fee for my credit card and they reversed it saying it was a one time thing with only a phone call. My experience with this bank after that has been great. I would recommend this bank to a friend. Their customer service is really good too. They respond really fast online if I can't call. I don't see myself switching to a different bank in the future. This is a solid choice for a bank and I highly suggest it after my experiences.

I have had no major problems., December, 2016

I signed up for a Chase checking, savings, and credit card account when I was 18. i was transferring my savings account from the bank my parents used. I switched because that bank had short hours and they did nothing on the internet. I received 100 dollars for opening my account. That was 12 plus years ago and I have had no major issues since that time. I can monitor everything going on in my checking, saving, and credit accounts by either looking at their website or looking at the app on my mobile phone. I especially like the features they offer, like depositing checks through their mobile app and "Chase Quick Pay," which allows me to quickly send money to friends and family. I love this feature because it makes splitting meals/expenses wildly simple.

Good, no hassle , friendly staff., December, 2016

I signed up for this bank with my (then boyfriend) husband after graduating from university, as we wanted to have a joint account between us. The application process was quick and fairly easy, especially considering i am from Canada and sometimes that means more paperwork when applying for things in the states.

Its convent to have all of our statements online and on one website , we haven't ever had a problem with communication between us and thus haven't incurred any late fees or the like. The few times i have had to go to an actual branch to do something the process has been simple, like applying for a new debit card. All i had to do was see a teller and give them my id and information, the card showed up a few days later in the mail as promised.

    cheep / uncooperative, December, 2016

I came to this bank because of a good reputation and a promotion they were offering. The promotion was if you have direct deposit to a checking account they will give you $75.00 to change banks. They are a state bank not a federal bank so they don't have the same rules as a federal bank.

My direct deposits don't get credited for 2 or 3 days, even though my paychecks are drawn on this bank. They have charge me overdraft fees for money that should be in the bank, they have charged me for checks , even though I don't ever write checks. Every time I ask about a problem I am told to read the user agreement.. I have kept the account open because it is easier to just use another bank and keep this account.

I am a low-maintenance customer and I appreciate their corresponding low fees., December, 2016

I was previously a customer of Washington Mutual when they were acquired by Chase. I initially picked WaMu as my primary bank because of their no-fee checking account (with a modest minimum balance or direct deposit), that they had online banking (back when not everyone had it) and that they had a physical location convenient to my apartment for depositing of cash and checks.

When WaMu was acquired by Chase I was initially concerned that Chase would have more fees or worse service but I have not had any complaints. My checking account fees never went up and when I do need services, I have never had problems obtaining them. I enjoy having the conveniences of a big bank (such as nationwide bank machines, being able to do all of my banking online, that they were one of the first to allow mobile deposits for checks, checks are now free) and when I have had the opportunity to obtain new credit cards, I enjoy that Chase has great ones with options that benefit me, as well as very simple ways to pay my bills.

It has been overly postive - which is rare for a bank these days., December, 2016

I recently sold my home and needed to find a notary. I contacted Chase Bank, and found that they would be able to notarize the documents I needed signed. I went to the bank expecting to have to pay for the services. However, because I was a member with Chase Bank, I was able to have the notary sign my papers and it was free of charge. I could not believe that it was free to have this done and it caused a very positive reflection on the bank and assured me that I made the right choice in picking them to do business with. I also really enjoyed the notary. He was very professional and he was extremely kind and helped me understand the documents that the mortgage company was asking me to have signed. He made the process as easy and painless as possible and I really thank him for his help to this day.

I have had a very positive experience with Chase., January, 2017

I've been a customer of Chase since 1998. It may have actually been Bank One (Ohio) at the time I started banking with them. Eventually, Bank One (Ohio) merged with Chase and it has been that way since.

The branch locations are convenient to my home, work, and my highly-traveled areas. They are open at convenient hours. I can also get a lot of my banking accomplished at the ATM. I don't have a lot of money so my banking activities are rather straightforward: deposits, withdrawals, debit card withdrawals and debit card purchase. I also do some of my banking online and on the phone, such as checking my balances, making transfers between accounts, and, occasionally, paying bills although most of my bills are paid with check or debit card.

It has been easy and excellent., January, 2017

I first started going to chase because my parents had a long standing account there and had built up an excellent relationship with them. I opened up my first student checking account at the age of 16 becasue my father claimed I needed one to manage finances and such. After age 16, my next big step was at age 19 when I opened up my first credit card to build up credit for the future. I got approved for the Chase freedom right away as that was the best card that I could get at the time. The appllicaiton was simple and easy and I got autoapproved right away as I had a longstanding account with chase. Overall, my experience with chase has been excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Convenient, efficient and a friendly atmosphere., January, 2017

Whenever I go to the bank, the tellers are courteous. They know who I am which I like. If there is an issue with over drafting the account, they call and let us know so we can transfer more money into the account. They have convenient hours and have an open late drive through lane. They allow customers to go to other ATM's and they refund the fees from those transactions. They have competitive products and offer different types of checking, savings, and investment accounts. I feel I can always get to speak with a real person and feel that my questions are important to the person I am speaking with. We have been with the bank for several years and are overall happy with out experience with this bank.

I've been a customer for along time and it's easier than learning something new., February, 2017

I have been a Chase customer for over 10 years. I originally chose them solely out of convenience and over the years they've gained additional savings accounts and a variety of credit card accounts from me. I do not particularly like the bank as they do nothing to make me feel valued in any way. They are well located throughout the US but as infrequently as I use an actual branch location this is hardly a requirement. I suppose I stay with them because all my accounts are there currently and it's easier than learning something new. I suspect they know this is the case which is why they don't put forth a lot of effort towards their current customers. Given the opportunity I likely consider changing but life is busy and that's the last thing i have time for.
