My experience has been great. They help me when i have issues, September, 2016

I have been banking with Citibank for 10+ years now. I have always had a positive experience with the banks customer service. The last time I called there were some un authorized charges on my account. the lady helped me take care of the issue. The person on the phone went through all the charges to make sure of each charge on the account. once i verified the charges i had done she submitted the form and the un authorized charges were removed. Along with the fees that had been caused by the un authorized . She then went through all the different banking options that might be good for me. She turned a very negative experience into a positive one. It took her less than 10 minutes to fix my issue

While the services are fine the fees are excessive., October, 2016

The service that I have received over the years had been adequate the fees have slowing increased to the point were they are not commensurate with the service that is provided. An incremental creep in fees has occurred over the years to the point where a regular checking account with a balance of less that $6000 has a monthly fee of $25. I am currently giving serious thought to transitioning to a credit union to reduce fees. As I find that I really don't require a face to face experience and pay my bills online and either use direct deposit or transfers the fees that Citi charges are excessive for the services I use. After all, they use my money to capitalise their other ventures. Perhaps further regulation limiting banking fees are in order to stop such blatant profiteering.

I have had a great experience, I have no complaints thus far., October, 2016

I actually ended up applying there on a whim. I needed a checking account and I passed it every day so I decided to go in and talk to someone about my options. The representative was very nice and helpful, he provided me with multiple options and I decided to go ahead ad open the account. The thing I immediately liked was that they print out a temporary debit card for you right after you open the account. I have had accounts with multiple other banks and waited a week or more for my card to come which I found inconvenient. I've always done mobile deposit for my work checks and my monthly fees are waived so there are no complaints about that. Overall I had had a great experience and would definitely recommend this bank to family and friends.

Started out great, lots of high quality service, then got worse and worse every year, October, 2016

I began banking with Citi in 2005. At the beginning they were fantastic. High quality service, high balance credit availability on my credit card. I was even welcomed and always taken well care of by the branch manager. Then things started to erode. Out of nowhere my credit availability was cut by 80% - no notice - just one day gone. And in 4+ years I never was 1 time late with a payment - many months I paid the balance in full. People were transferred, fees increased, service eliminated and the final straw - they closed the only branch within 10 miles of my home. They treated their employees terribly also, as I have spoken with the manager who was terminated after 20+ years with them. This is not a singular instance or isolated poor service event. This is a bank noone should choose to ever do business with - ever. Foreign owners (Saudis) have changed the culture forever - send them packing.

It has been frustrating at times but I have made i work for me., November, 2016

I began my account with Citibank when I entered college. It is near my home so it is very convenient to get to. My account has evolved over the years. While being unemployed, I was frustrated about the fees. They downgraded my account a few times to lower the fee. I thought about leaving for a while until I began earning some income and the fee was waived due to direct deposit. Now I don't have a problem with them. Customer service has always been helpful to me and have never given me any problems. They have always done all that they could for me and would waive overdraft or late fees if asked. I am very pleased with my bank overall. I currently only have a checking account with them. When I had a savings account, I was disappointed with the low interest rate but it was normal for a lot of banks.

I've had great customer service with this bank., December, 2016

I first opened my bank account with Citibank when I was 18 year olds. I opened a savings and checking account as well as a credit card. There are two Citibank locations located right in my area so it is convenient for me. I use my Citibank credit card at least once a month and have had great customer service with them. The other day I had thought I had a unauthorized charge to my card. It was in the middle of the night but I called their customer service anyways. I did not have to wait long to be help. The agent assured me that if the charge wasn't mine then I would not be responsible for it. He helped calm my anxiety and made me feel better. I really like the benefits I have with my credit card I have with them. It allows me to earn a total of 2% cashback- 1% for all purchases and another 1% when I pay my balance. In addition I can redeem my cashback when I reached $25. It is also great that Citibank has teamed up with Costco as my family is a frequent Costco shopper. Now we can earn more cashback.

    Overall pretty good., December, 2016

Overall my experience has been good. It was great when I first opened my account because it was painless and an easy process, and I was happy with the fees and services up until a year or so ago when they stopped offering my checking account type. I received a letter saying I needed to change my account type or it would automatically be switched to a new type that has a $25/mo fee if I keep a monthly balance under a certain level. I cannot change my account type without going in person to do so, and with my work hours conflicting with my bank hours I haven't had the time to do so -resulting in me paying the monthly fee. Otherwise I like the bank and the customer service.

Good customer service and locations, but I don't like the service fees., December, 2016

I've been with this bank for around 8 years. Living in New York City, it's very easy to find a branch whenever I need to perform something that a regular ATM won't do. Hours are extended on Mondays, and that's very helpful. It also helps that every 711 location has a Citibank ATM. However, I'm not a big fan of the services charges that they pile on. The interest rates, much like every other bank in the past decade, are nothing to write home about.

Their online banking is very convenient and easy to use. Errands that took an hour or more out of my day now take a few seconds with a smartphone through the use of their app. Customer service has always been prompt to my requests - I've received replacement debit cards within two days. Overall, I'd recommend this bank to family and friends.

I do not feel they do much for me aside for a place to deposit and access my money., December, 2016

When I first signed up for Citibank I did it because it was close to my home and my parents also had their accounts there. I have opened a checking and savings account there and also applied for some credit cards. I also once received a car loan from them and since then paid it off in full. I now only use them as a place to hold my money and for my direct deposit. I was thinking of switching banks due to some fees that they used to charge for a checking account. As of now I am still considering changing banks, but am not doing it yet due to just being lazy. This bank is fine, I wish they had more locations around and for me to not always pay fees to use other ATMs.

My experience has always been positive, there is nothing I can complain about, January, 2017

Well, I initially opened a credit card account with Citi Bank. I chose their Citi Double Cash card because the 2% cash back seemed attractive and so did the 0% APR for a certain amount of time. Although the credit limit was not as high as other cards, it didn't bother me since I never use that much. I like to use it as my daily card and then pay it off at the end of the month. I then signed up for a bank account when I needed a local bank account to deposit checks into. Since I was already going to a location to make credit card payments I figured I would save trips in the future by opening a bank account with them. Filing disputes through the credit card has also been painless.

My experience has been positive and I would recommend it., December, 2016

So Citibank is a rather large organization and is probably not going to be on alot of these reviews because I believe the reputation is quite bad. My personal experience, though, has been quite different. Citibank was the first bank to give me credit (via a not-rediculously-feed credit card) when I became of age. They did this when I had minimal credit history and as the regulations on banks were being tightened. They have progressively increased my credit line over time and I have always found them to be easy to deal with. Additionally, the cards themselves have had good features (rewards) and tend to be competitive with others out there. As should be apparent from this, I have stayed rather loyal to the company over the years as I have no real complaints.

Unexpectedly high foreign exchange fees., February, 2017

I thought that I would be able to get lower fees when withdrawing from Citibank ATMs abroad. This was not the case. Even when withdrawing from Citibanks, I still got charged the 3% foreign exchange fee plus non-Citibank withdrawal fee. Bad experience, want to change.

There is a citibank next to my house, and the service there is ok. The service people are friendly. Although one time I went there and asked them for a roll of quarters, one of the tellers said they didn't have any quarters. I asked her, "Where am I supposed to get quarters then, if not a bank? Should I go to the Federal Reserve?" She went across to a drawer and found some quarters. She seemed a bit young and perhaps new so maybe she genuinely didn't know that banks were the places where the public gets its source of quarters. Other than that, I don't have much experience with their customer service.
