BBVA Compass has been a great bank to handle my financial needs, particular a checking account., October, 2016

I recently moved to Alabama from Florida and was looking for a bank to handle my checking needs. My new friends in Alabama recommended Compass bank as they had a 3% Interest Checking rate, this was back in 2009 and no fees for the checking account. In addition they were giving a $25 anniversary bonus in each account every year. After the recession, all the benefits were taken away like the anniversary bonus and the interest rate was dropped down to 0.50%. Still though, they never charged me any fees to keep my checking account and didn't require a minimum amount of money in the account. Also they have very friendly bank tellers who have the sweetest charm. To this day I have stuck with Compass bank for my checking needs and as of now am still happy with them.

My overall experience with Compass Bank has been mostly pleasant, with a few minor annoyances., November, 2016

I began my relationship with this bank because my husband already had an account with them before we met. They made the process of adding me to the account simple and painless. Changing addresses and phone numbers with them over the years has been a little bit of a hassle. The customer service in the branches is hit or miss - there have been times that they have been helpful and understanding, and times that they have not been helpful at all. I like that most of my banking can be done online or at an ATM without having to enter a branch. The customer service provided over the phone has not been great. It is difficult to report a card lost or stolen, and nearly impossible to speak to an actual person when I call.

My overall experience with this bank has been average not too bad., November, 2016

I use Compass because it is convenient. They have a branch close to my home. The bank also allows me to deposit my check automatically and pay bills. That saves me time and money. There was a occasion that I had a over draft and the bank covered the check and did not charge a fee. I also find the people working there as friendly and professional they do a good job. Compass also has a credit card and I use it because the interest fees are good and there is no annual fee. In the five years I have dealt with them there has never been a big problem. I am always treated with courtesy and professionalism. The only problem I have with the bank is their checking fees.

It started out very good but over time the customer service went down and the fees went up. I am currently changing banks., December, 2016

The bank I use is 1st Convenience Bank in Lubbock, TX and Arlington, TX but it would not register on your first question. I started banking with them in 2012 and the experience was great when I started. They were convenient and offered unconventional hours - hence the name "1st Convenience" so that you could go outside normal working hours. Over time they have made their hours the same as other banks, their customer service has taken a nose dive, and their fees have become horrendous. I had not had a negative balance on my account and one week my daycare went in an hour before my paycheck which cause 4 items to bounce. These have always been automated and have never caused any issues. I was charged $140 in overdraft charges and after 4 years of banking with them they refused to waive any part of them. They said that I had gotten lucky for the last two years and this was bound to happen. It has happened 3x since and my employer/childcare have not changed anything. The employer stated that the bank determines when the check hits. Several people I know started experiencing the same issues. I am over it. I am switching to BBVA Compass.

It is friendly and nice., January, 2017

They are a bank in my small local community. They are friendly and helpful when you visit the bank. They recognize me and know me by name. They even know my dog and will give her treats in the drive through.

I have both business and personal checking accounts there. I also have a savings account and a credit card. They have online banking as well as an app. You can remotely deposit checks. Their online banking website works well and is easy to use. They recently updated it however and got rid of my favorite part which is where you could view info about all of your accounts everywhere in one location. That was great but they took it away.

But overall I like the bank. They are friendly and nice and it works well for me.

For several years I have had a good experience with my bank., January, 2017

I have been a customer with BBVA/Compass for many years. I have only used their services for a checking account, but I have been very pleased with their service over the years. I like that their fees are low, and the customer service at my local branches as always been excellent. I appreciate that they take care of whatever business I need taken care of, without trying to upsell me on other accounts or services.

I like the bank's online website. I am comfortable using it, and I receive direct deposits from my employer with no problems. I also have the account linked to my brokerage account, so transferring money between these accounts is easy. I also have my insurance payments automatically withdrawn from my account each month. These features have always been trouble-free, and I rarely have issues accessing my account information online.

I like that the bank also has ATM machines conveniently located to my work and home locations. My bank also receives high praise for resolving problems. A few months ago I attempted to withdraw money from an ATM, and no money was dispensed - although the amount was debited from my account. My bank credited my account within a day or two, and the issue was finally resolved with no problems.

For all of these reasons I have been quite pleased with my bank.
