it has been a slightly below average experience with this bank, October, 2016

I have been a member of this bank for a long time. it was originally Independence, then Sovereign and now it is Santander. I have been with this group of banks for over 15 years. I have a basic checking and savings account. I am currently angry with this bank because they are limiting my transfers and have decided that if i make more than 5 transfers in a statement period, the bank reserves the right to close my savings account and turn it into another basic checking account. This bothers me because I have been loyal to the bank for years and now they decided to do this.

Additionally, I get hardly any interest, maybe .03 a month, which is a joke. Additionally, the lines in the branch are so long that i end up doing most of my banking online anyway. The only good thing about this bank is that the workers are very nice and helpful.

Local branch is very friendly and helpful, October, 2016

I recently went in for a business account. The woman at the local branch was very friendly. She spent a lot of time with me even though it was closing time on a Friday. I came in a week later and she remembered my name. The accounts have low fees, and the mortgage rate is very competitive. The only issue I had was that I was being charged $15 a month on my previous business account, which I ended up closing. I later found out that had I used the debit card attached to the account three times in one month, I wouldn't incur the charges. Overall, though, I haven't had any problems with Santander, and I like the small town feel. I feel very comfortable turning to them with any questions or problems.

My experience has been exceptional with this bank., September, 2016

I opened an account with this bank 13 years ago. The reason was because it was suggested by a friend. The process upon signing up was extremely easy and there was no fee for having a checking account. Over the years, I have not had any issues at all with this bank. The employees have always been courteous and helpful. They always greet me and call me by name. I had recently moved and the location I am in now does not have a branch that is close to me. For that reason, I ranked my overall satisfaction a 4. I am happy with the interest rates and fees. Although the free checking account option is no longer available, the fee for having one is acceptable. If you have a certain amount of funds in your savings though, there is no fee for a checking. I always make sure I have enough in my savings to avoid the fee. Very good bank.
