They have excellent customer service., September, 2016

I joined State Employees Credit Union two years ago after banking with traditional banks previously because the fees were much lower. I have not had any problems with my checking account since switching to the Credit Union. Approximately one year ago I opened a credit card with the Credit Union and was quickly approved. My interest rate is reasonable at 8% and it is easy to make payments at any time through the online website. I use the Bill Pay service monthly and since joining the Credit Union the bill pay service has improved by paying more of my bills electronically instead of sending physical checks as when I first opened my account. Each time I went to a Credit Union branch location all of the tellers and customer service agents are very nice and take care of my business quickly. They are also nice to my children and offer stickers instead of candy which I prefer.

Treat you like you are the only customer in the bank!, September, 2016

I love this credit union. I was recommended by my father. I joined in 1995 and have been a customer ever since. I love their low fees on checking, which is $1.00 a month. I love how I can earn interest on checking and savings with them. They have awesome customer service, and make banking fun. It is very easy to get a loan with them, when you need it. The low interest rates make it easy to pay it off as well. I love the fact they have a coin counter in the lobby so that I can take in my spare change and convert it to dollars for free. They have free ATMs located all over my town and that is a plus too. I also love the fact that are 5 minutes from my house. Great bank that I would recommend to anyone!

Excellent Customer Service, Truly people helping people., October, 2016

I started as a client at the credit union all the way back when I was 16. I joined through my dad, and I am so happy that I made this choice. I can always count on the credit union to provide excellent customer service and support for any of my financial issues. I selected them initially because of their great rates and low fees. I may have been able to get a lower auto loan rate through an automaker, but I knew that I could trust the customer service situation at the credit union. They would not do anything to sell my loan or charge me any fees. Their online banking and phone service is excellent. I have not had to go to a branch in several years, and I really appreciate how I can get everything done that I need to without leaving home or work.

It's usually a pleasure to work with NCSECU, they offer very low rates on their services., October, 2016

The service is great at my local branch. Other branches can be a little spotty, but overall it's normally very good. I prefer a smaller institution, the service is more personal. There's no barrier in between you and the tellers so you can have friendly conversations. The fees are really low because it's a credit union and you are a member instead of just a customer. This was the main reason that I switched from my last bank, who just kept raising it's rates every month it seemed like. They also pay a very good interest rate on both the checking and savings accounts, which is becoming very rate. My checking account was costing me money before and now it makes me money every month. The savings account interest rate is even higher than the one for the checking account, and I can go online to move money back and forth between them.

It serves my needs., October, 2016

They didn't run a credit check to open an account as commercial banks do. That would be fine, except my lying, stealing, cheating soon-to-be ex-husband took out a high interest loan. The loan never showed up on credit monitoring because they did not run a credit check. They should have so I could have been aware of the loan sooner and began steps to financially protect myself before he put his family in further financial jeopardy. For my purposes now, I wanted to use them to roll-over my QDRO but no one there seemed to have a clue about how to handle this. I'm surprised a financial institute couldn't handle that as common as divorce is. They are missing out on massive funds but not taking and interest in helping customers with their Qudro/retirement investments. The bank has lots of locations so it is convenient for small transactions, but that's all I can use it for.

Fast and convenient service, December, 2016

My first experience with the bank was when i was 14 years old. I was coming in to get my picture taken for my debit card. They said that i would have a checking account and that i would have a savings account as well. Also they said that went i wanted, that i could open up my own investment account that wouldn't have as much fees compared to other banks in the area. The first time i ever deposited my first paycheck in to my banking account I was really nervous because i had no idea how to do it at all. However the ladies there were so kind and so patient with me and they walked me through the whole process of filling out the deposit form and endorsing the check and everything

I have not had any major issues with my bank, December, 2016

I go to my bank on a monthly basis, primarily to move funds around. This bank is convenient because there is a branch close to my place of employment, in addition to the locations near my place of residence. Anytime that I have entered a location, I have been met with polite, courteous service. Some of the tellers recognize me as being a long time customer and are usually willing to give some tips or advice concerning the products I currently carry. When I was having my home remodeled, I came to this bank for a loan. Unbeknownst to me at the time, I could borrow money against a certificate of deposit that I had at a relatively low rate. I would just be paying myself back. I did not know that banks offered this option, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is an option of having money available quickly if an emergency arises. I enjoy learning new things about my bank and I appreciate the relationship we have built over the years.

My overall experience with this bank has been incredibly positive., December, 2016

My experience with this bank has been nothing but positive. Customer service is always very personable and extremely nice. Every time I step foot into my local branch I am greeted with a smile and effective, quick service. I have banked here for several years and never had a negative experience with any of the staff. I have also had the unfortunate experience of having to report fraudulent charges on my account. Upon contacting customer service they immediately took action against the charges, closing the card to enable any further charges, refunded me the amount that was stolen, and issued a new card with no complications or headache on my part. Any time there has been a breach of security to any of the stores that I shop at I have been issued a new card to protect my account. I love my bank and would never leave given my experience.

SECU has always went above and beyond in times of need for my husband and I with ease and exemplary customer service., December, 2016

I cannot say enough about State Employees Credit Union. During our home buying process, they were beyond accommodating for us when we needed to fax documents since we don't own a fax machine. I can walk in at any time of day, even rush hour, and not have to wait long to sit down with an advisor if I'm in need of financial advice. The lines are never stagnant and the drive-thru is even quick and efficient. I left my debit card at the bank one day when signing some documents and was incredibly busy and didn't have time to return to the branch so they willingly mailed it to me, overnight, to avoid inconveniencing me. Lastly, SECU has prepared our taxes for us at a reduced rate for the past several years since numbers and legal documents are not my strong suit. I'm not sure if they'll do it this year as my husband and I are both contractors now and need some in-depth filing but I am definitely going to ask! I would recommend anyone to use this bank because I've had nothing but great experiences.

This bank has been helpful and professional in every circumstance., December, 2016

I don't have very much experience in personal finance, but the North Carolina State Employees Credit Union has assisted me in keeping up with my bills and investing for the future in a friendly and helpful manner. Every time I have questions regarding my accounts with their organization, I am assisted by a kind employee who is obviously very knowledgeable about their field. This not only gives me confidence in the Credit Union itself, but also that my accounts are being handled properly. Sometimes I have questions that more experienced people may think have easy answers, but I'm never made to feel inadequate. Things are explained to me in easy to understand terms and I always leave feeling like I've learned something new. Since becoming a member of the Credit Union I have had peace of mind that my money is in good hands.

They are easy to use and have great customer service., January, 2017

I joined SECU at the recommendation of a co-worker who had been banking with them for several years. The application process was easy and fast, and I received my debit card and checks within a week. They have several convenient locations, including one less than a mile from my house, which is great because it saves me time and gas.

One major draw for me was that SECU offers interest-bearing checking accounts, which my previous bank did not offer. I like being able to earn interest on all of my money, not just the portion I keep in savings.

Their customer service is phenomenal - when you call, it's easy to get a real person, and they are always friendly and helpful, whether on the phone, online, or in person.

The only downsides are that they don't have any weekend hours (my old bank did), and they don't offer business accounts. I'm in the process of starting a small business and have had to go elsewhere for a business checking account. It would have been nice to have all my banking in one place. However, these are minor issues, and my overall experience with SECU has been a fantastic one.
