My overall experience has been positive., September, 2016

When I moved down to North Carolina I needed a new bank since my old one was not local. SunTrust was all over the place and was recommended to me. I found it easy to make an account there. There is technically a small monthly fee but it is very easy to avoid by meeting various basic requirements such as number of transactions, having direct deposit, or just being a student. There is no interest that I am aware of which is a disappointment to me because my old bank had interest and rewards. However, I have never had an issue with SunTrust. Their website is easy to use and the employees are very helpful. There are locations all over this state which is very convenient for me. I would recommend this bank to others.

It has been a decent experience., September, 2016

I have never had a problem with this bank, and the customer service has always been efficient and helpful. They are quick to resolve any issues that I have, and most of the tellers I have met have also been very knowledgeable and friendly. Suntrust also offers a lot of different options for loans and banking. Currently, I have a savings and checking account, and really my main issue with the accounts is that there is a 10 dollar fee if you fall below a certain amount in your bank account. I don't think it is fair to charge such a high fee, but I do understand why banks have to do it. Overall, I am fairly satisfied with my experience both in-branch and on Suntrust's online banking service website.

I have been happy with SunTrust bank thus far., September, 2016

I needed to change banks because my former bank moved from the nearest location and I didn't like driving 20 miles to do my banking. I saw a sign at the SunTrust Bank in the local Walmart that said you could get $200 for opening a new checking account. The details were that if you have direct deposits for at least $2000 during the first 60 days after opening your account they would give you $200 within 8 weeks after that. I have already met the qualifications and I hope to get the bonus soon. I have had no problems with my checking account so far. I like the way you can make cash deposits in their ATM and you have the funds available immediately. I go to the Walmart all the time and it makes banking convenient.

    Decent overall., October, 2016

It was good when I got the account as a student, there were no fees, and the application was very easy. They had many ATMs, and branches near me.The fees were later increased several times, and customer service has at times been very slow. Now, I've moved, and there are no ATMs near me, and they don't have contracts with any ATMs, so there's always a service charge. The monthly maintenance fee is too expensive.

Customer service is usually polite, but when I had problems like a check not going through properly due to a mistake from the maker, customer service bounced me back and forth, repeatedly telling me they didn't know, and to call back another day. I will likely switch banks soon due to the above reasons. Definitely prefer it to Bank of America though.

For my particular need, it has fulfilled what I was looking for., October, 2016

I live in a small to mid sized town, and I was not particularly happy with any of the banking services offered here. I wanted a bank I could specifically just deal with online, as I have social phobia issues along with other mental health problems. I was able to apply to Suntrust online, get my debit card online, all without having to deal with people. They are very professional, and as far as I know they have not been in trouble like Wells Fargo for trying to swindle their customers and treating their employees like expendable garbage. I have to have at least 10 transactions a month to negate the seven dollar maintenance fee, which isn't bad at all. My only qualm with them is this maintenance fee. So it's a decent bank, with seemingly ethical procedures that I can deal with exclusively online. That's why I chose them.

My experience has been bearable, but it could and should be better., November, 2016

I can't complain about the fees, because there's is only one for not making a deposit within 30 days. The fee is only $1 as well, and I never incur it. I am very disappointed with the customer service offered by this bank. Once I attempted to link my PayPal account to my bank account. I successfully did so, until the accounts were unlinked several days later, even though I know other people who still have their accounts linked. They have me a hard time on the phone when I called to question them about it. They danced around my questions using the language they are surely trained with. They would not reveal the true reason, but I know that it is because they view PayPal as a competitor because of the way their online banking works.

Suntrust has provided me with exactly what I have expected., November, 2016

I went with Suntrust for two reasons. My family banked with them when I was a child, and they were the only bank that would offer me a free checking account without a direct deposit. The single most important thing about Suntrust is how upfront they are with their customers. There are no hidden fees, changes, etc. I have a checking account and savings account with them and have never had an issue with either account. I ran into a situation that caused an overdraft on my account and when I spoke with customer service they were able to credit the fee. My children love going to the bank and getting a lollipop. It may seem like a small gesture, but when my children are in the car they are anxiously awaiting to see if the teller will see them and send them candy. Every time they do. I appreciate it because I can remember as a child doing the same thing and getting that little acknowledgment made my day.

    Not great., November, 2016

Suntrust has a history of reordering transactions to hit you with the most fees possible. This only benefits the bank and not its customers. Plus right after I opened an account they moved out of my town. I would not recommend. This made me lose access to my local bank plus no access to a no fee ATM. This was unacceptable. On top of that most of the technology was totally antiquated and out of date. Also, anytime I go into the bank to get help with anything they tell me they can't help me and to call the too free number instead. If they can't help me what's the point of them even being there?

I do not recommend this bank or any large banks really. It's best to bank with a local credit union or community bank.

Don't let me forget the fees! They fee you to death too!

My experience with Suntrust Bank is and has always been professional and rewarding., December, 2016

In March of 2015, I purchased a new vehicle for a Nissan dealership in Titusville, Florida. Their credit manager wanted to place me with another lender who he recommended based on approval rates and interest charged. My credit score had taken a large hit prior to this time as the result of a crooked deal I bought into with a dealer selling Dodge cars and trucks. I was placed with Fairwinds Credit Union for a 75 month loan at 8.64 % with a monthly payment of $371.69. My credit score has continued to climb so I went and talked with my personal banker, Mrs. Juliana Sabato, at my local Suntrust Bank. They offered me a 60 month refinance with a payment of $281.66 on a 4.74% loan. I told Juliana I wanted to get the payment below $250 and I was willing to put an additional $2,000 into the deal. Juliana did not have to do a thing for me but, she went way out of her way, put me into a phone conversation with a person who could make changes to the deal. As the result of Julian's efforts, I was able to get a refinance at 4.64 % for 72 months taking my payment to $231.44. I could not be happier and would never have gotten the deal done if it were not for the outstanding help provided by

    Suntrust Bank and Juliana Sabato.

Haven't had any major issues so far., December, 2016

I have used this particular bank for over five years. Prior to Suntrust, I used to bank with Bank Of America. I had a pretty bad experience with fees at Bank Of America, which caused me to look for another bank. Ever since I found Suntrust, I haven't had any major issues. They have also added many mobile banking features in the past few years which I use regularly. The only issue I have had with Suntrust happened about a month ago. I was purchasing new PC parts online and a few other products and the bank ended up putting a hold on my card. I called them and had it resolved, only for it to happen again a few days later. When I had to call back again, I had to wait for customer service for over 30 minutes. Other than that, no other problems.

My overall experience has been nice., December, 2016

My experience with Suntrust overall has been positive. I had opened my account back in 2012. The guy that helped me start it was extremely helpful. I do have fees for my checking account because I constantly use my card for transaction. My savings account has no fees, because of the automatic transfers from my checking account. Every time I visit a branch, the tellers are really nice and helpful. I recently visited one yesterday and I was assisted by a young female teller. She was quick and even offered me another service while helping me. I was in and out in less than five minutes. My only complaint about Suntrust is that their online banking and website is somewhat lacking. However recently it appears they are trying to improve their website with a new redesign for it.

Very positive, they are very nice and helpful whenever I call with a question., December, 2016

I like my bank a lot. They are very conveniently located so I can always visit a branch when I need to go to the bank. They also have very easy to use online services. I can check my balance online in about two seconds and on my phone they also have an app. I can open the app to check my balance and transfer funds around whenever I need to. My only complaint would be the overdraft fees. They are a little bit high I think and they charge them a lot like they hit you when you're down. If you're already negative, they'll give you more charges anyways to make you more negative. I wish they wouldn't do that because it makes it very hard to know what to transfer to make the balance positive.

My overall experience with this bank has been very good and uneventful., December, 2016

I original chose this bank due to it's proximity to my work after I first moved to my current area. I then moved again and they had a branch almost across from my new job and close to home. I have been very satisfied with them and I have never really had any issues with them. However, I did just receive a letter that they were closing the branch that I utilize and I could use a branch that is actually over five miles away from my work and home. Now I am left in a position of trying to decide if I should switch banks. I mean on one hand I do most things online, but there are occasions I need to use the ATM or go inside the bank.

I have been pleased with the bank as I have had no real issues with them as of yet., January, 2017

They always provide great customer service at least to me. Their online banking is very easy and convenient. My only issue has been being charged for having too little in my checking account at one points in time which was a 10 dollar fee. aside from that I have not had any negative experiences. They have been quick and efficient in answering any questions I have had and are always willing to help. Despite the fact that the bank often has received poor reviews I have had nothing to complain about so far. The interest rates could be better but they are certainly nothing out of the ordinary. Through this bank I have been able to use any ATM I have tried which is always a plus. I may have just gotten lucky with my branch but overall I am quite satisfied.

Overall my experience has been great., January, 2017

I was living in Florida and wanted to open a Forex trading account. My regular bank was back in Virginia so I need a bank account in Florida that I could deposit money into. I went to SunTrust and they were very accommodating and they're able to help me out with all my needs. Deposits and withdrawals are easy and they offer extra services for free such as notarizing documents. When I moved back in Virginia sunTrust handled my account information professionally and quickly. SunTrust online banking is great and convenient. I have nothing bad to say about SunTrust Bank and I would definitely recommend this bank to anyone. I hope to be able to expand my services with Suntrust soon. My plan is to get a new auto and home loan.

Very good, I only had to contact customer service once but they provided a solution I was very satisfied with., February, 2017

I had an overdraft fee applied to my account when bestbuy cancelled some of my orders and I happened to still be charged for them. I thought since they cancelled them, I would be refunded, so I purchased some additional items. But when I checked my account balances the next morning (and my email), I saw that my account was negative... with an overdraft fee applied. I quickly messaged support explaining if there was anyway the fee could be reversed...I was not able to bring the account balance to positive in time for the next fee to kick in a week later. To my surprise, a reply was waiting for me the next day! Fast customer service. I love it. And when I read the message, it got even better. The lady explained what charge triggered the overdraft fee and then proceeded to tell me that she refunded the overdraft fee! She gave me a tip to turn on mobile alerts so I am aware of my account (text / email). I am super grateful. This was the first time I messaged support and I am definitely not going to be worried in the future.

I've been a SunTrust customer for about 20 years, and have never had any problems or issues at all; it's been very smooth over the years., May, 2017

I opened an account with SunTrust when I was a teenager, so I've been with them through several phases of life. I've always gotten very solid, consistent service with them. Now that I'm an adult who doesn't write a ton of checks or use a lot of teller visits, their free checking account is perfect for me. In twenty years of having my money in Suntrust banks, I can't think of a single negative issue that I've had with them. A number of years ago, I had my wallet stolen, which included my debit card - SunTrust was very easy to work with in cleaning up that mess, and did not hold me liable for about $400 of charges that the thieves ran up on my card. I also have my home mortgage through SunTrust. The rate that I have through them was very reasonable, and I'll occasionally get calls from SunTrust reps asking if I need any assistance with anything. All in all, it's been a very positive, trouble-free experience.
